Exodus 33:12-23 records a conversation between the Lord and Moses.  The Lord tells Moses that He is pleased with him and that He will be with him as he leads the Israelites.  At the end of their conversation, Moses asks God for a favor; "Now show me your glory."

What a request!  What did Moses mean by show me your glory?  To fully understand what he was asking, we need to look at what has already taken place between the Lord and Moses.

For starters, Moses has already experienced God speaking to him through the burning bush.  In Egypt, he witnessed water turning to blood, plagues, three days of darkness and many other miracles.  And it was by the raising of his own staff that Moses witnessed the parting of the sea.

Once he was in the desert, Moses saw the Lord’s Presence every day in the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.  He awoke every morning to find manna on the ground and saw water flowing from a rock.  In fact, by this point Moses had already spent forty days and forty nights on the mountain top, in the Presence of God, receiving the Ten Commandments.  Yet, after seeing all of these miracles and the visible Presence of God on a daily basis, Moses longed to see even more of God’s glory!

Most of us would gladly settle for even one burning bush type experience in our lifetime.  Not Moses!  He wanted as much of God as he could get.  I must admit, that if I had a burning bush or parting of the sea experience, I would probably write a book and tour the country talking about it.  How pathetic!  Thankfully, that’s not what Moses did.

Instead of getting all excited about what he had seen, Moses got excited about what he had not yet seen.  Instead of being satisfied with the past, Moses lived in the present.  He knew there was more to God than he had seen and he longed for more.  In short, Moses understood the spiritual principle of God taking us from glory to glory

I too want to be like Moses.  I want to experience more of God today than I did yesterday.  I want to grow up into the fullness of Christ.  I want to see the supernatural power of God love people through me that I’ve never been able to love before.  I want to be all that God created me to be.  I want my God to be pleased with me and reveal Himself to me in a greater way each day.  And I want all of these things for you as well.

I pray that you will never be satisfied with the past, no matter how marvelous it was.  I pray that you will experience the fullness of God’s glory today and every day.  He loves you and is waiting to take you from glory to glory.  Make yourself available to Him as never before, live in the present and ask God to show you His glory.

You are the one God loves!

He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate & gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love & faithfulness...”  Exodus 34:6
