We recently inherited two kittens when our son Jacob moved back home.  Pete is a long and lanky male who is very hyper-active and crazy.  At times we all want to kill him, but we don’t, because that would be wrong!  Besides, we love Pete.  M.J. is a prissy little orange tabby, who coos like a dove.  She’s both precious and aloof.  Though, Pete and M.J. are very different in most ways, they both have the same instincts found in all cats.

As I watched them one day I noticed how they love to stand at the French doors in our kitchen and look out through the glass panes onto our deck.  They also love to climb through the mini-blinds, despite my best efforts to keep them from destroying them, and look outside.  They just can’t help it.  Cats want to be outside in their natural environment.  Even crazy Pete, who’s eyes are a little too close together and ears are a little too far apart, instinctively knows that he is created to be outside and experience a life free from mini-blinds and French doors.  Both cats know the house is not their natural environment.

In the same manner, we as Christians also have a natural environment, or should I say a supernatural environment.  As Christians our true environment is the Presence of Christ.  It is in Christ’s Presence and His Presence alone that we find real freedom.

Yet, the freedom we find is not freedom to do what we want to do.  No, it is freedom to do what Christ wants us to do.  And what is it that He wants?  Christ wants us to be more than an average ordinary human being.  Christ has called us to be super-human, more than conquerors, overcomers in this life.

As God’s children, we have been given a supernatural ability to do the impossible.  By His power we are able to love our enemies, bless those who curse us and forgive those who have wronged us.  We are able to put to death the bad habits that have plagued us for years.  We are able to do far more than we could do by ourselves, for we have the very Presence of God living in us.  And if God is in us, then God is for us.  And, if God is for us, then who can be against us?  As a friend of mine says, “God plus one is a majority!”

There is nothing you can’t do with God’s help.  Our God knows no limits.  He is bound by no one or nothing.  He can and will do supernatural works in you and through you as you follow Him.  Do not get discouraged.  Do not stop believing in His power.  Don’t quit until the supernatural becomes the natural in your life.  Walk in the power of His boldness and the joy of His freedom, knowing that you have overcome the world.  You can do it in Christ!

I pray that you will experience the freedom and power of Christ in all you do!  You are the one God loves!

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Gal 5:1
